THE EVENT SHOW 2015; PINK MATTER

Hey Guys!

Yeeaah… Where do I start from¿

Yes, i’m alive. No, i did not travel to a remote location devoid of the internet. Yes, i’ll put in more effort to be consistent. *drinks a cup of water* I’m sorry I was away for so long.

Now, what started out as a passion to create an entrepreneurial platform to promote local vendors and encourage professionalism in the event industry with just about 30 booths at Civic centre Port Harcourt, circa 2011, is back for it’s 5th edition which promises to be different from the previous ones, thanks to the Tres Bien Events Team.

Product exhibition, mentoring sessions, seminars /workshops, a runway show; this year, The Event Show with the theme ‘Pink Matter’ will be going on tour to 2 other Cities, Calabar and Benin.

This year’s theme explained by the organizers;

Pink Matter

The central nervous system is made up of the brain and spinal cord and consist of two major tissues known as the grey and white matter. These tissues are mostly responsible for how we learn, think and process information.

Women over the years have transcended their customary roles as home builders and have grown to be powerful forces to reckon with. They have turned into excellent CEOs, Directors, founders of successful business empires and influential public figures while maintaining the home front.

These attributes in the woman has prompted our interest in the topic and for this reason we aim to explore, different aspects of the Pink Matter at the Event Show 2015. The areas in view will be; womanhood , the woman entrepreneur, work place challenges and the woman as a public figure.

As visual beings, women have a strong attachment to fashion and it plays a key role in interpreting how they think. For the fashion show, pink matter elements will be infused; giving designers a chance to interpret it on the runway

We look forward to celebrating the iconic female enterpreneur, mother, public figure and the African woman in general. Pink Matter(s) to us and this we intend to show at the 2015 edition of The Event Show.

Here ye, here ye! Established and upcoming event planners, Entrepreneurs, visitors looking for a platform like this that is sure to showcase a wide range of products and services, sponsors, investors alike; come one, come all and bring a friend.
Have an amazing week ahead!

Xx, Ib.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM NATIVE AND VOGUE INTERNATIONAL FASHION WEEK 2014

Hey Everyone, I trust you had a good and productive week… As you know, the Native and Vogue international fashion week 2014 held on the 19th, 20th and 21st of September at The Presidential Hotel. I was able to make it to the event on the second day, cause i said i would and mostly because i wanted to support my friend, Chima of upcoming fashion label, WU-MAN.

Native and vogue

I did cover the days’ session of the event, with my phone and i didn’t want to give you guys low quality pictures so i’ve been working hard to get HQ pictures from the 3-day event for you all.I met and connected with a lot of people in the industry. With everything going on, i took only one photograph with super model Milen Magese; next time i go to an event like this, i’ll take photographs of myself first before i get sucked into all of the action. This is my favourite photograph from the event. *wide grin* IMG_2765

In no particular order, here are my favourite looks from the event.

PORT HARCOURT UNESCO WORLD BOOK CAPITAL 2014

Hello All!

PHUWBC2014

I hope your short holiday/Easter celebration was splendid and you’re ready to get back to ‘hustling’.  Okay, that being said, I Love Books.

I Love Books and I Love Reading (something I forgot to put here) Reading is already a part of my lifestyle and my current Major in the University seeks better ways to reinforce this, daily.

Port Harcourt was chosen to be UNESCOs’ world Book capital City for the year 2014, this makes me sooooo HAPPY because at a time, i thought Lagos and Abuja were the only cities in Nigeria the rest of the World noticed/saw and was interested in.

“World Book Capital is a title bestowed by UNESCO to a city in recognition of the quality of its programs to promote books and reading and the dedication of all players in the book industry.

The designation runs from UNESCO’s World Book and Copyright Day (April 23) of one year until April 22 of the following year.”

The opening Ceremony programme will kick off on the 22nd of April 2014, but the main opening ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday 23rd April, which is the United Nations (UN) World Book and Copyright Day.It is a week long event that’ll end on the 26th of April at Hotel Presidential, 9am to 6pm daily. You can register here.

“The city of Port Harcourt was chosen “on account of the quality of its programme, in particular its focus on youth and the impact it will have on improving Nigeria’s culture of books, reading, writing and publishing to improve literacy rates,” according to the Selection Committee.”

The theme for this year is ‘Books: Windows to our World of Possibilities’.
Each day of the Opening Ceremonies week is named after a prolific Nigerian Author; so #Day1 is called Elechi Amadi’s Day.

There will also be book reviews and discussions for each month.                                              –April Book of the Month is Chinua Achebe’s Arrow of God.

chi-ache-aog-botm-april-new                                                                                      -May Book of the Month is The Great Ponds By Elechi Amadi.

-June Book of the Month is Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s This Child Will Be Great.

-July Book of the Month is Ake: the years of childhood by Akinwande oluwole ‘Wole’ Soyinka.

-August Book of the Month is Tomorrow died yesterday by Chimeka Garricks.

-September Book of the Month is CChimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Purple Hibiscus.

I would really love to be there -of course when school permits me- even if it’s on only one of the days.

If you are currently in Port Harcourt or not and will be attending, kindly let us know in the comment section below; you could even help us (those who may not be able to attend) keep to tabs with the progress of the event. 😉

Oh and by the way, Port Harcourt is the 14th city to be designated World Book Capital following Madrid (2001), Alexandria (2002), New Delhi (2003), Antwerp (2004), Montreal (2005), Turin (2006), Bogota (2007), Amsterdam (2008), Beirut (2009), Ljubljana (2010), Buenos Aires (2011), Yerevan (2012) and Bangkok (2013).
